THE GENESIS

I grew up in France in a small town called Bourges.Japan was my first passion. It started when at school I discovered Judo at the age of 8. Martial art, which I practiced until I was 20, then I turned to Kendo and then to Iaido. At the same time, I took graduate studies in metalworking and manufacturing in general.

Today I am a teacher and practitioner of Iaido ZNKR and IAIJUTSU:

REALIZATION OF A KATA IN MY GARDEN

I have always had a great admiration for history and those who do great things with their hands. True artisans, in every sense of the word. I can honestly say that Japanese craftsmen are very demanding in their specialty in a relentless quest for perfection. It's just in their DNA. And history has proven it century after century.

To say the least, I'm a fan of ancient and modern Samurai blades. For me, and for many who own an antique Samurai sword, it embodies the true soul of Japan and its culture. You can feel its entire history in each of its rooms.

With the help of my friend and Iaido student, Pascal Monin (Director of the Murasame company), I decided to create the "Japanese Saber Workshop", in order to be able to meet the demand of martial arts practitioners. (Iaido, Kenjutsu, Battodo, etc.) and Nihonto collectors. It was not an easy task, but I did it and created "Japanese Sword Workshop."

"The Japanese Sword Workshop", which is mMember of Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai - NBTHK Japan(Japanese Sword Preservation Society), is committed to preserving the beauty and history of Japanese swords, relying on artisanal restoration work at the service of Japanese blade enthusiasts.Indeed when you own or buy an antique handcrafted Japanese sword, you literally feel the centuries of history, passion and dedication that make it unique. He has a spirit, a soul. It is for these reasons that it is essential to preserve this cultural and historical heritage in the best possible condition in order to transmit it to posterity.

The Japanese Saber Workshop offers the restoration of Saya with the manufacture of custom-made pieces, of Tsuka with the production of Tsukamaki in Hineri-maki, Katate-maki with Hishigami, Hadori-type polishing with a Shita Ji-togi with the Japanese stones, Arato, Binsui, Kaisei, Uchigomori and a Shiagetogi with Hazuya, Jizuya and a Nugui stones (coming as close as possible to a traditional polishing without being one) of Katana, Wakizashi and Tanto blades using stones but also services of translations of the signatures (Mei) of the blades of Japanese swords and on the study, the evaluation of the authenticity and the value of the Japanese swords (approaching as much as possible a Shinsa, without being A).

It is therefore as an autodidact, by passion for Japan and by my professional training that I embarked on the preservation and restoration of Japanese swords. I am a knowledgeable amateur, who offers quality services. I enjoy what I do, it's not just a job, it's a real passion.

We only work with Japanese products and suppliers such as Nosyudo, Namikawa Heibei Company, Tozando, etc., as well as using reference books, such as "The Connoisseur's Book of Japanese Swords", "The Art of Japanese Sword Polishing", "Markus Sesko Books", "The Art of Tsukamaki", etc.

Our activity is situated between tradition and modernity, because on one sidewe renovate Nihonto(ancient sabers) and on the otherwe refurbish recent sabers for practice and participate withkatanas-samurai.com the development of modern swords for practice (carbon Iaito, 1st price practice Iaito, all designed and adapted for the practice of Kenjutsu and Iaido).

VShe projects are close to our hearts and in particular that of the Iaito 1st prize, because our goal is to offer a functional, balanced, light and correctly finished Iaito and tothus allowing practitioners who cannot invest in too expensive Japanese Iaito to be able to equip themselves at a lower cost.

The Iaito carbon project(Innovative project that combines compliance with the criteria of use and unique design)is intended for practitioners who find it difficult to train with standard Iaito that are too heavy and to be able to practice with an exceptional Iaito(light)entirely designed and produced in France. This concept that we propose is, to our knowledge, unique.

Available at katanas-murasame.com

I also realize for katanas-samurai.com, assemblies of composite sabers, ie the assembly of Japanese parts, on Chinese blades. This offer was born from the request of certain customers wishing to own a sword with a Japanese finish, but who again cannot invest in a real Nihonto or Shinken. Here again

our goal is to fulfill everyone's dreams,by allowing them to touch mythical Japan with their fingertips andthat it is not necessarily reserved for an elite.

This concept that we propose is, to our knowledge, also unique.
